ABC ART BAJA

06 - DESIERT@BIERTO

POSTNATURALISM / AESTHETICS BEYOND THE LANDSCAPE.
→ TOUR AGENDA

It is a gallery that operates as a platform for dialogue between Mexico's two peninsulas and their relationship with the contemporary art scene, in contrast to the centralization of its industry in world capitals.

Having an artistic residency in the desert, he has a strong emphasis on contemporary art that considers the Anthropocene from the perspective of ecology, territory, new materialisms, and the different ways in which art relates to the beings of this world and its nature.

Being located in the north and also having ties to the center, the exhibition space is designed to address the limitations and advantages offered by the ontological relationship between being from the center or "from the interior," as those coming from the center of the country on the peninsula are called, and being peninsular, or "from the exterior," in its counterpart. Following the same logic, being from inside or outside turns our gaze into a dance between the regional, the indigenous, the national, and the globalized.

We aim to connect perspectives from distant cultural centers to nourish the artistic dialogue of the local scene with proposals that seek to decentralize the economies of contemporary art to and from the coasts of the national territory."
